Knights of The Golden Dawn

When the vials of The Guy's 'product' were opened, IT and billions more unseen microscopic machines, appearing as less than fine dust or smoke, swarmed out of their glass prison and vanished into the air. Programmed to search out the electromagnetic emissions of computer and communication equipment, IT and its brethren molecular robots burrowed down into the silicon and gallium arsenide tissues of electronic structures, imbedding themselves at crucial junctures where sensors told them they could establish control centers. Once they verified their locations, they sent out signals, enabling millions more of their brethren to follow them in, rearranging themselves into conductive paths that effectively seized control from any outside operator. Microscopic soldiers of The Guy, they laid siege and successfully occupied their objectives. IT and its kind waited.

At the same time, millions more of The Guy's microscopic machines made their way toward the nearest human, following the copious heat of the body. Encountering clothing, epithelial layers of dead skin, anything non-living, they burrowed in deeper, programmed to burrow until they encountered free-flowing warm liquid–blood. In that nutrient bath, they began to multiply. At a specified concentration in the blood, they left the bloodstream and burrowed into cells distributed throughout the large, soft universe of the human being. Many millions took up positions in the nerve centers of the brain, at the center of sensation; of pleasure; of pain.

These, too, waited.
